Life Coaching

“Coaching is about change. It’s about going for what you want instead of what you think you can have.”

Personal coaching is about change. It’s about moving out of your comfort zone and going for what you want instead of what you think you can have. It’s about making the most of the present and dreaming up the future.

What can you expect from coaching with me? Increased satisfaction in the fundamental areas of life: family and friends, career, health, money, personal growth, fun and recreation, physical environment, and romance. You will make more conscious choices and take more resonant action.

Coaching will:

Help you determine your purpose. What does your life look like when you are focused solely on fulfilling your purpose while staying aligned with your values?

Uncover where you are stuck. Could you benefit from looking at a situation from different perspectives?

Process your feelings. What do you need to let go of to invite growth and new possibility?

As Co-Active coaches like to say: “We do not coach for a problem to be solved. We coach for a life to be lived.”

How do I know that coaching works? Because I am also a client. In 2019, after being a media coach for a decade, I came to a crossroads in my life. Three longtime friends, and both of my senior dogs, had passed away. I grieved those losses for months. What followed in their wake was a keen sense that life really is short. I had a wide open road in front of me. How could I honor my friends and not take my time on earth for granted? I had no idea.

So I hired a coach.

I knew about life coaching but was skeptical. I live in California and had heard of people taking a weekend course, or doing one of those “personal development” seminars, and calling themselves a coach. Not my style. But Donna had not only been coaching for 17 years, she was certified by the Co-Active Training Institute — a premier coaching school accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and the gold standard in training executive coaches and fostering leadership development.

As Donna and I talked about what was possible for my life, I became intrigued by the tools she had at her disposal. She asked powerful questions that left me speechless. She challenged me. She championed me. She never gave me advice. She helped me see that the answers were already within me. That I am naturally creative, resourceful, and whole.

The experience was profound. My life changed dramatically for the better in the time that we worked together. I believed in my worth, both personally and professionally. I found a happy and healthy relationship. I raised my media coaching rates 50 percent and watched my business grow, not shrink. I let go of work projects that drained me and instead focused on what I loved to do. I operated from abundance, not scarcity. Working with Donna sold me on the immense value of Co-Active coaching. She is still my coach today.

Our time together connected me to my purpose. I realized that I wanted to expand my coaching beyond helping people talk to the press. I embarked on and completed the rigorous training and credentialing process to become a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the ICF.

Fifteen months, 300+ training and coaching hours, and an oral and written exam later, I am now coaching people through significant events and transitions related to their careers, relationships, health, finances, and emotional well-being. Co-Active training has also influenced my media coaching practice, enabling me to be more curious and less directive with clients, which has transformed their ability to communicate.
